BOOK ONE IN THE MASON JAR SERIES
Whoever heard of a kidnapper with a sense of honor?
Illegal immigrant Tommy Ramirez made Three Reluctant Promises to a dying woman. Kidnapping a cop’s daughter is the only way he can keep them. College student, Ashten Mason, is a stranger to trouble until a gorgeous guy with a gun jumps into her car and demands help. Soon embroiled in one dangerous situation after another, they are forced to rely on one another—an idea that Ashten believes is an oxymoron, and one that drives Tommy crazy.
Kierstin Marquet's novel, Three Reluctant Promises, moves so fast it should come with seat belts. Yet, woven into each intense thrill is a wonderful story of trust and friendship that stays with the reader long after they finish. This is a great story!
Gregg Luke, five-time Whitney Award finalist.
"I really enjoyed this book for many reasons. So refreshing to see a strong, smart heroine. No, she doesn't have super powers, she's not a black belt in karate, but she's sharp and uses her wits (and anything else around) and she never gives up. Also, she doesn't start hyperventilating just because a handsome man looks at her (so tired of those books that make women out to be hormone addled twits). It was also a fun read to see it from both the heroine and the hero's perspective. The book is fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat (with really awesome and mysterious bad guys) with nefarious plots aplenty. Looking forward to the next one to come out as I can't wait to find out what happens to these characters."

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW AUTHORS COME UP WITH THESE INTRIGUING DESCRIPTIONS?
For me, it's hours and hours of brainstorming. After a while, my brain gets a little flooded and I need a second opinion. The description above was a result of my editor and I brainstorming while sitting on the floor in her living room. The following is what I brought to the table, eh, her floor.
After a car crash leaves him and his sisters orphaned, Tommy Ramirez, an illegal immigrant, takes all kinds of odd jobs to make ends meet. A bad day gets worse when Tommy discovers he’s transporting kidnapped girls in the back of his semi-truck. A victim's mother enlists his help to free the girls and she is mortally wounded in the attempt. Knowing death is imminent, she begs Tommy to make her three promises: save her daughter from the human traffickers, retrieve a data stick that has incriminating evidence on it, and deliver the evidence to the police. Dodging death, deportation, and struggling with a rare form of dyslexia, Tommy knows he can’t do it alone. When he makes a desperate grab for help—literally—Ashten Mason, a police officer’s 18-year-old daughter, doesn’t come willingly.
Ashten Mason just celebrated her 18th birthday, and started her junior year in college. A stranger to trouble, she doesn’t know what to think when a huge, gorgeous guy with a gun jumps into her car and demands help. Bullets fly and the giant keeps her safe during a rounds-bursting-through-the-windshield high-speed chase. Ashten realizes he’s in more trouble than she is, but relying on him to protect her is the ultimate oxymoron.

BOOK TWO IN THE MASON JAR SERIES
OUT IN EBOOK and PAPERBACK ON AMAZON.COM!!
How could trying to do the right thing turn out so wrong?
In Three Reluctant Promises’ stunning sequel, Ashten Mason is determined to help her magazine-cover-handsome kidnapper. Tommy Ramirez might’ve risked his life to save hers, but lying to her police officer father and the FBI about their relationship turns out to be the stupidest thing Ashten has ever done. Now, the FBI think she’s an accomplice to murder, the real killers see her as bait for Tommy, and her dad thinks she has Stockholm Syndrome. If her dad finds out her secrets—including how deep her feelings for the felon really are—Tommy might be safer seeking sanctuary with the hit men trying to kill him.
Staying alive is a minute-by-minute challenge Tommy is seconds away from losing. Not sure if a raging flood or hit men working for a powerful criminal syndicate will take him out, Tommy must dig deep to find the strength to survive. Crawling through hell to accomplish that and keeping the promises he made to a dying woman turns out to be easy compared to protecting the cop’s daughter he can’t get out of his mind.
The editor bought Lies after having only read the first chapter. I worked 12-17 hours for two months to get it done in seven months!

"I'm quite addicted to Kierstin Marquet's novels! She is unusually good at conversations, and there are lots of conversations in this story. I especially like the italicized comments throughout the story, showing attitude, sarcasm, and character personality. Though a young adult feel to this novel, it kept my interest and included lots of detail in the storyline. The relationships between the characters is what makes these novels so charming. These people care about one another and they show it. They are intelligent, caring people, and they make things happen. There's lots of action! I look forward to the next novel in her Mason Jar series, Three Stupid Mistakes, I believe it will be called." Verona

Verona was right about the book title.
And then I decided to tell Antoinette's story which occurs simultaneously with books 1 & 2, so Brandon and MaKenzie's story which takes place later, got bumped to Book 6.
BOOKS THREE AND FOUR IN THE MASON JAR SERIES are
Tentatively named: Three Crazy Trust Exercises PART 1 & 2

OPTION #1
In this powerful parallel novel to Three Reluctant Promises and Three Stupid Lies, the only thing 21-year-old Antoinette Ramirez has ever wanted was to get her family out of poverty through educational opportunities. After a car accident kills her father and critically injures her mother, Antoinette’s college savings are depleted on their care. Before her dreams can disintegrate, she takes a job with a college-approved social networking service that offers dinner and dancing dates--only. The decision turns into the kind of nightmare you never wake up from. When her family fights back, a formidable crime syndicate sends hit men after them. Punished for honorable behavior, her 19-year-old brother is forced to run for his life while Antoinette and her younger sisters go into hiding in an oil baron’s mansion--a mansion holding it’s own deadly secrets. Antoinette's fearful silence and daring deception leads to dead bodies and more troubles. As the hit men close in, she discovers a 26-year-old ICE agent is the only one who can help them. Things get seriously complicated when Antoinette's savior, Special Agent Justin Hanson seeks to throw her in jail for being an accomplice to his colleague’s murder.
How can you trust someone who wants to ruin your life?
OPTION #2
In this powerful parallel novel to Three Reluctant Promises and Three Stupid Lies, Tommy is busy trying to stay alive in Utah, while his older sister, Antoinette, is attempting to keep her younger sisters safe from neighborhood gangs and take care of their mother whose mind was destroyed by the accident that killed their father. Antoinette has to do all that while taking nursing classes, working full-time, and being stalked by unknown enemies so lethal, she needs a guardian angel to survive. Things get seriously complicated when her "angel" loses that status after his colleague is murdered. Special Agent Hanson develops horns and instead of a pitch fork points a gun at her determined to arrest her for the homicide.
How do you trust someone who wants to ruin your life?

BOOK FIVE IN THE MASON JAR SERIES
Once you read Book 4, you will understand why I HAD to do Zayne's story. He was such a fun character to create, I couldn't help it. This was also an amazing way to lead into the continuing efforts to fight crime and stop the bad guys that survived Book 4.
BOOK SIX IN THE MASON JAR SERIES:
Chronically Critical Mistakes
In Book six of the Mason Jar Series, Three Critical Mistakes, desperate times call for destructive measures. After making a deal with a son of the devil, financially strapped MaKenzie Randall is forced to reunite with Brandon Mason, an ex-boyfriend she’d rather see dead. Too bad no one warned her to be careful what she wished for. Please note the picture to the left is not the official cover for Three Critical Mistakes. (It's just a place holder because I didn't like the empty space and someone more tech savvy than me made it for me). Special thanks to Katie Roberts for that! Also, if you've been to this website before and thought that Book 4 used to be Book 3, You're not crazy. I switched them because it made more sense to have Antoinette's story that occurs simultaneously with books 1 & 2, come first. (Brandon and MaKenzie's story doesn't take place until later. UPDATE: After adding a new character to Book 4, I couldn't help wanting to do his story which would be in the same time frame as the others, so Chronically Critical Mistakes might get bumped to Book 6. |
BOOK 7 IN THE MASON JAR SERIES: TENTATIVELY NAMED:
THREE NEEDY CLIENTS
In Three Needy Clients, the Masons' have opened up a private detective agency and don't realize their most important client is living under their own roof. Human trafficking survivor Sammie Taylor can't mentally escape her past. Horribly broken from the things she was forced to do in order to survive, Sammie struggles to find hope, love, and a strength within herself she didn't know existed.
